On Sunday, November 03, 2019, the Delaware National Guard held its Camp Honoree Ceremony on the grounds of the 193rd Regional Training Institute at Bethany Beach. The annual ceremony recognizes an individual whose name will be displayed at each training site throughout the state in honor of their service to both the military and state. Maj. Gen. (Ret.) Terry L. Wiley was this year’s Camp Honoree.
Brig. Gen. David Fleming, Assistant Adjutant General of the Delaware National Guard, along with Lt. Col. Michael Orlando presented Wiley with this honor. Orlando is the person who nominated Wiley for this honor.
“Maj. Gen. Terry L. Wiley is the embodiment of spirit and purpose of what this award is all about,” stated Fleming. “He is a man of great character. He has a passion for community service and has been instrumental for the development of the Delaware Military Heritage Educational Foundation and the Delaware Military Museum.” Maj. Gen. (Ret.) Terry L. Wiley was awarded the Conspicuous Service Cross by Brig. Gen. David Fleming and Lt. Col. Shawn Winterbottom.
Maj. Gen. Terry L. Wiley retired from DuPont after 32 years of service. He was also very involved in numerous military, community and religious support roles. (U.S. Army National Guard story and photos by Spc. Ken Speir)
