The Quest to be "Governor's Twenty" Shooting Competition

Delaware National Guard Public Affairs

Soldiers and Airmen of the Delaware National Guard competed in the annual TAG Match at the River Road Training Site, Delaware on September 21st and 22nd.

Guardsmen competed against each other, both individually and with teams, earning the right to wear the “Governor’s Twenty” Tab on their uniforms. Only the top 20 competitors earn the right to wear the tab.

Each competitor, using both the M4 rifle and the M9 pistol, went through several shooting scenarios with different targets.

To end the two-day shooting event, an awards ceremony was held to honor the winners.

This year’s winners are as follows:

Individual Combined Arms Award - First Place: Staff Sgt. Louis Vitali (166th Logistics Readiness Squadron)

Team Combined Arms Award - First Place: 166th Logistics Readiness Squadron; Team Members: Staff Sgt. Louis Vitali, Staff Sgt. Eric Reifsnyder, Tech Sgt. John Grieten, Staff Sgt. Robert Okeefe

Commander/First Sergeant Match - First Place: 287th Army Band; Team Members: Chief Warrant Officer 3 Robert Stike and 1st Sgt. Charles Longfellow (287th Army Band)

Individual Novice Rifle Overall Award - First Place: Sgt. Jonathan Scott (Medical Detachment/Joint Force Headquarters)

Individual Open Rifle Overall Award - First Place: Sgt. Francis Rivera (287th Army Band)

Individual Novice Pistol Overall Award - First Place: Staff Sgt. Robert Ade (166th Logistics Readiness Squadron)
