CHILD & YOUTH PROGRAMS

The purpose of the program is to promote and sustain the quality of life and resilience of Army National Guard children and youth by providing secure, timely, flexible, high- quality support services and age-appropriate development programs that support program goals. Army National Guard Child & Youth Program provides evidence-based, developmentally-appropriate life skill and resilience-building activities during out of school time and supports prevention initiatives to mitigate youth violence, gang activities, substance abuse, suicide and other at-risk behaviors, and school transition and support services. The Army National Guard Child & Youth Program fulfills this mission by addressing the child care, youth development and school support needs of Army National Guard children and youth through National, State/Territory and community based programs.

Age-appropriate activities and support services are offered in four service delivery areas:
• Art, Recreation & Leisure
• Sports, Fitness & Health
• Life Skills, Citizenship, Character Development & Leadership
• Academic Support, Career Development, Mentoring & Intervention

 

Community Partners.  DE Child and Youth Programs is fortunate to work with many community partners to support our Guard Kids, including:

  • DNG Youth Foundation / Camp Colwell
  • USO Delaware
  • Operation Homefront 

PROGRAM PERSONNEL

The Child and Youth Services is an integral component of the National Guard’s comprehensive approach to Family Readiness. By upholding the well-being of the entire family, the CYS offers outcome based activities designed to foster positive youth development and support the unique strengths and challenges of National Guard children. This high quality, out-of-school time program exists to mitigate risky behaviors, enhance resilience, develop positive coping strategies, and assist our National Guard youth in reaching their full potential as the next generation of leaders.
